Couple Chores Leads

There aren’t any divas in the household when it comes to chores.

A new study from the Families and Work institute reveals that same-sex couples are more likely to divide up chores equally when compared to straight couples.

Researchers looked at 103 same-sex couples and 122 straight couples and found out that same sex couples split the work up equally. They found the same-sex couples share laundry, household repairs and child care responsibilities compares to straight dual-incoming earning couples.

The researchers chalked these findings up to traditional gender roles saying, , “[Often, straight couples move] really fast into the traditional gender roles and then [say], ‘Wait a second this isn’t really where I want to be.’ Same sex couples, in contrast, have already broken a mold, so they can have ‘a richness of imagination’ when they divide domestic chores.”
