malware-mazar-bot

If you get a SMS or MMS containing a link that urges you to update an app on your phone, DON’T.

  • It’s part of a new Android malware virus called Mazar BOT.

  • Here’s what happens if your phone gets the virus:

  • The hacker who sent it can access and read/change your texts and emails.

  • More often than not, the hacker won’t read texts, rather they will piggyback on your data and wifi so they can browse the web on your phone.

  • They can also download apps, wipe all your storage and put your phone into sleep mode.

  • You could be in the middle of typing a text, and suddenly your keyboard would start typing without you. And then delete everything….IT’S LIKE A HORROR MOVIE BUT SO MUCH WORSE CAUSE IT’S REAL!

  • SO PLEASE!

  • IGNORE SMS OR MMS MESSAGES THAT HAVE LINKS OR APPS.
TURN OFF: “Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store.”
    UPDATE YOUR ANTI-VIRUS APP.
If you’re not using wifi, TURN IT OFF! AVOID HOTSPOTS!

  • Why someone would do this? No idea. They obviously are not nice people and aren’t willing to pay for their own data. 🙁
