Edmonton Italian Bakery Burns Down

The Italian Bakery on 118th caught fire on Saturday evening. Firefighters arrived around 11 pm and didn’t have the fire under control until around 4 am.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. We have a few pictures that were captured of the fire but unfortunately they are small images.

It’s always sad to see a building burn, especially a local business that caters to hundreds of people in Edmonton.

“We can’t do the production in our other location. We don’t have the pans, we don’t have the right machines and there’s not enough room there to supply our customers at this point. We’re just in limbo right now. We don’t have a plan … I’ve been up all night.” This quote comes from Renato Frattin, co-owner of the bakery.

One thing we can all be thankful about is that no one was working when the fire started, so no one was hurt.

We talked with an employee of the Italian Bakery this morning. You can hear the heartbreak in her voice.
