Edmonton is getting a FUNICULAR! Yeah, we had no idea what is was either...IT'S A CABLE CAR! But do we need one?

So a Funicular is a hillside cable car. And Edmonton will now be getting one!

The reason we didn’t hear a lot about this new development is because it took a while to get passed by the mayor and city councilors. They still aren’t confident about the project.

The renovations and costs to construct it are still unclear, which is a cause for concerns. The other big concern being raised is; do we really need it?

Did you know Edmonton had an operating funicular between 1908 and 1913?

The new one will connect downtown to the river valley!

Don Iveson said this in an interview with Global News: “If it was up to me, I might be doing something different. Is there another footbridge we could build? Are there other trail extensions we could build within the river valley? But really, this is the only thing we can do that will meet the timeline.”
