It’s a HUGE list, and it’s getting bigger!  Here are as many of the local businesses we’ve heard about that are accepting donations or opening their doors to help out evacuees! 

 

  • If you would like to make a donation, you can donate to the Redcross HERE, or text the word ‘redcross’ to 30333 to send $5 that will be added to your phone bill.
  • Microtel Inn & Suits by Wyndham are offering free rooms in Whitecourt and Bonnyville for up to 7 days, while rooms last.
  • If you want to help take people in, you can post to this Facebook page: www.facebook.com/Fort-McMurray-Evacuee
  • Been told the Edmonton Emergency Relief Society may need some help: http://www.eerss.org/
  • You can volunteer to help with Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Emergency Social Services: betterimpact.com/Application
  • Also, The Pint locations in Edmonton say they will offer free meals to between 11am-2pm and 6-8pm. If you have a Fort McMurray address on your licence they will take care of your bill for you.
  • World Health has opened their clubs to residents of Fort McMurray who would benefit from having a work out with a shower and amenities.
  • Fountain Tire (8550 Yellowhead Trail) is offering free repairs for Fort Mac residents.
  • If you’re trying to find a loved one or need evacuation information, you can call the regional municipality at 780-762-3636 or the Red Cross at 1-888-350-6070. 
  • Facebook has also put a ‘Check In’ option on the site: www.facebook.com/safetycheck/fortmcmurray
  • Staff at the Maier Center is offering a place to stay, or support services for kids with autism.
  • Earls Restaurants are offering a sandwich and a drink to anyone with Fort Mac I.D AND will donate all of today’s steak sales in Alberta to Red Cross.
  • Boston Pizza in Millwoods & South Common Edmonton are providing individual pizzas with a free pop.
  • Indian Fushion downtown Edmonton providing free meals with proof of government ID
  • G+E Pharmacy (7326-82 Ave) is giving away 4-6 pounds of pet food with proof of Fort McMurray residency.

  • Need housing? Offering housing? Both can be accommodated HERE. (only click if you need assistance, website server is strained)
  • The Legion in Fort Saskatchewan is open for people to come and stay WITH PETS!
  • ETS is offering free shuttle service for evacuees between Edmonton Airport and the Reception Centre atNorthlands.
  • You can drop off bottles at Triple H Southside Bottle Depot and they’ll donate the money to Red Cross if you like.
  • The Druid Irish Pub is offering a free meal and beverage to anyone displaced by the fires in Fort Mac. Just present a government issued ID with a Fort Mac address and you’ll be taken care of.
  • Wawanesa has opened temporary claims centers in key areas to assist policyholders with reporting losses and obtaining information as it relates to the Northern Alberta wildfire disaster.
  • Alberta Animal Rescues will direct you to places that can help any pets effected by the wildfire.
  • West Edmonton Mall is offering all attraction for free to Fort McMurray residents.
  • Champion Foods is offering pet food!
  • The Telus World of Science is offering free entry!
  • Metro Cinema is offering some free kids movies!
  • All Edmonton StorageMart locations are offering free rent for a month to anyone with a Fort Mac I.d.
  • Mayfield Toyota is doing a fundraiser next Saturday, May.14 for a car wash and BBQ with all proceeds going to RED CROSS
  • LZ Trampoline: Family Day specials again; Adults can jump for $10/hour and Children $5/hour with a Fort Mac ID.
  • Grove RV is taking donations for the victims of the Fort McMurray tragedy. Donations can be brought to Castledowns park 158 ave 115 st on Saturday from 9 to 5 between diamonds 1 and 2. Water, toiletries, pet supplies and all other items accepted
  • Grande Tire Inc is offering free repairs, rotations and family pricing on new product to anyone with a Fort McMurray address. 5505 128 Ave NW
  • Ricki’s is offering 10 items at 75% off. “Please let your friends know that our store at WEM and all other Alberta locations will honor this offer with ID showing they are from Fort McMurray
  • Panda Hut Express – 10879 23AVE – . “For the remainder of May, we are pleased to offer an invite to any displaced persons to come in for meal on us. Just provide proof of a Fort McMurray address (License, passport, etc) to join us for one food item off the menu.”
  • Reitmans (Canada) – “Please come in to any Reitmans, Penningtons, Addition Elle, Thyme Maternity or R & W Co.stores and ask what we can do for you! 75% off”
  • Dairy Queen (7460 76 ave) is offering free $6 & $7 meal deals and kids meals to anyone with a valid Fort Mac I.D
  • Chianti Cafe & Restaurant (the Whyte Ave. location and Clareview as well) will be offering free meals to those displaced by the Fort McMurray fires
  • Papa John’s in Edmonton and area are offering ONE large 2 topping pizza to anyone with government issued Fort Mac ID.
  • Rain Salon in WEM is offering 15% off all hair products, and some stylists are discounting services up to 20%. Just make sure to ask about it at the reception desk.
  • Second Specs in Wem is making free prescription glasses for anyone from fort mac who lost theirs in the fire.
  • Alberta Eye on 107 ave and 109 street is doing free eye exams and glasses.
  • Starbucks at West Edmonton Mall  – giving out 2 free drinks to anyone who can show valid I.d showing they are from Fort Mac.

  • Edible Arrangements – Free swizzle chocolate strawberry box for Fort mac evacuees
