Until May 20th, evacuees can pick up a pre-loaded debit card holding money from the Government and raised by the Red Cross.

Here in Edmonton, you must go to the Butterdome. It’s big, yellow and hard to miss. Located on 114 Street and 87 Avenue. It will open at 8 am.

ADULTS will receive $1,250 each in money from the Government.

The Canadian Red Cross will also be giving money to evacuees, meaning adults could receive a total of $1,850. Adults will receive $600 and children will receive $300.

Evacuees must have the following documentation:

• Red Cross registration number

• Photo identification

• Identification for partner/spouse and/or dependents, if claiming relief for them

• Proof of residence or presence in the community.

People with mobility issues can call 780-310-4455. Those with questions can call their area code then 310-4455 toll-free. Or, 1-844-406-3276 toll-free outside the province.

Rachel Notley has given this message to evacuees that will be receiving money: “There will be long lineups, especially through the early days of distribution. So, I am asking all evacuees, if you don’t need emergency funding immediately, please let those in desperate need be first in line. That way, we can distribute the debit cards as quickly and efficiently as possible, be assured that the funding will not run out. There are enough debit cards for every eligible evacuee.”

The other distribution centers in the province are:

McMahon Stadium and BMO Centre in Calgary, and the Bold Center in Lac La Biche.

54 Alberta Works locations across the province will be open for evacuees  to get their debit cards starting May 24th.

(Yesterday the Butterdome closed at 8:00pm. We are assuming it will continue to close at that time, if you know otherwise please let us know!)
