The Fort McMurray Wildfire is now said to be under control, according to the province’s wildfire officials.

On Tuesday, Alberta Wildfire thanked firefighters and partners for helping with the beast that forced more than 80,000 to flee Fort McMurray and neighbouring communities about 9 weeks ago.

“It’s a great day,” exclaimed Laura Stewart, wildfire information officer with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry. “Our firefighters have been working hard for a long time.”

A big thank you to those who did their part in this tragedy. No matter if it was fighting the fire on the front lines, taking in the evacuees, or raising donations. THANK YOU!
