Sherlocks‘ creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat have warned recently that the fourth season of Sherlock, may be the last.

While this is sad news, it does makes sense.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (Sherlock and Watson) are both big time silver screen actors now, have busy lives, and have other films that are starting to take up their time.

Steven Moffat said:

“We do have two film stars in the programme. They haven’t needed to do these jobs for a very long time. They’re coming back because they want to.

I’m amazed that we’ve got this far. I thought that once they had become extremely successful, we would only get to do one more series.”

[“THEY’RE COMNING BACK BECAUSE THEY WANT TO.”]

So Cumberbatch and Freeman don’t even need the money anymore, they just love the show!

(Well if they love the show so much why would they leave!!??)

Now, there’s no official statement saying this will be the last season. But the two leads have’t signed a contract for future seasons yet…

Let’s cross our fingers and hope they do!

And if they don’t…

Here’s some cute animals to look at while you mourn the end of an amazing show:
