Unarmed Man laying on ground with hands in the air gets shot by Florida Police

Charles Kinsey works with individuals with disabilities. Recently he was with an autistic patient who had wandered away from the facility the patient stays at. Charles says he was helping the patient calm down. In the video, the patient can be seen sitting on the ground with a toy truck.

The Florida Police had been responding to a call about a man trying to shoot himself. They told Charles and the autistic patient to lay down on the ground.

North Miami assistant police chief Neal Cuevas told the Miami Herald that  Charles Kinsey, who is black,  complied to police, lay down and put his hands up and trying to get his patient to do the same.

According to Charles Kinsey and Neal Cuevas,  ‘an officer fired three times, striking Kinsey in the leg.’ Cuevas said ‘No weapon was found on either Kinsey or his patient.’

Kinsey is recovering in the hospital.

In the interview Charles says he asked the officer “Why did you shoot me?” and the officer said, “I don’t know.”
