Some customers and employees are upset with West Edmonton Mall as they have made the decision to maintain normal store hours on Remembrance Day, instead of changing hours as they have in the past for the day the same way other malls do in the city.

Other malls in Edmonton (like Southgate, Londondary, Kingsway etc) won’t be open until noon this Friday, as is usual on Remembrance Day.

West Edmonton Mall will open at 10am.

The mall isn’t ‘not’ partaking in Remembrance Day celebrations though. There will still be a ceremony at the Ice Palace and stores will also take part in the moment of silence.

So far opinions range from people who think the decision is fine and makes sense for such a large establishment, to those who see it as very disrespectful, to some who are trying to boycott the mall.
