Edmonton's first born baby of 2017 is an absolute JOY!

I don’t know about you, but even before I became a mom, I always looked forward to seeing or hearing about the first baby born in the new year. Back in my days as a reporter, I remember getting assigned this story, and I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to rush over to the hospital and meet the family who gave birth to the very first baby of the year. Mind you, now knowing what I know, and having been in that hospital bed after being in labor for hour and hours, I have no idea how the families and especially the moms look so good! Labor isn’t easy, but giving birth is very special and seeing your child for the very first time melts your heart. Nyadin Nyoak and Lol Duop were grinning from cheek to cheek after the birth of their beautiful baby daughter Joy at 12:01am Sunday morning, making her the very first baby born in Edmonton in 2017.Both of them were so overjoyed with happiness when they laid their eyes on their new baby girl, that they decided to use that inspiration and feeling to name her. Nyadin always had a feeling her baby would be a New Year’s baby because her actual due date was Jan 1rst and when she started going into labor on New Years Eve, that’s when she knew for sure. The precious bundle of joy weighed in at 6 pounds and 6 ounces and is the sixth child for the couple. We wish them all the best for 2017! Enjoy your new bundle of JOY!
