You haven’t seen the last of big business tycoons, who also have TV shows, joining politics.

Kevin O’Leary (famously known for Dragon’s Den & Shark Tank) has made the decision to run for PC Party leadership. He formally made a statement this morning, and the Canadian icon has already been seen meeting with fellow politicians and forming a campaign crew.

The first meeting that started the process in earnest happened on Dec. 5 at Toronto’s Nota Bene restaurant.

According to MacLean’s ‘O’Leary met at the noted Queen Street business power-lunch venue with Mike Coates, a longstanding party insider, whose past roles ranged from raising money for Brian Mulroney to helping Stephen Harper prepare for election debates.’

With O’Leary’s current credentials (or lack there of in the political system) it’s no surprise that Trump comparisons are already being made. But former senator Marjory LeBreton, who also met with O’Leary to discuss his campaign, says Canadians who fear “Trump-like behavior” have nothing to worry about.

“I don’t think you’ll ever see Kevin O’Leary personally insulting people or saying things that are very unkind about certain groups of people, I just don’t believe you’ll ever hear that.”

The one BIG thing O’Leary may have to be concerned about if he plans to run for Prime minister, is the fact that he is not bilingual…

But a few months with Rosetta Stone and he’ll probably be fine!

Either way he said he plans to be proficient in speaking french by 2019.
