When I grew up in the fifties my  neighborhood and the people in it were my family. Everyone watching out for each other, helping build things together and more importantly playing and communicating with each other.  What has happened in our neighborhoods today?  The total opposite.  Once everyone played “hide and seek” as a fun neighborhood game and now they play hide but don’t seek so they don’t have to talk to their neighbors!! So sad isn’t it?

Twelve years ago I moved into a new neighborhood and to this day people are scarce, hardly to even be seen on the street.  Heaven forbid you stop and have a conversation with your own neighbour.  People are too locked up in their own houses and isolate themselves for fear of getting too close to their neighbours. Too busy for friendships. Does this sound familiar. I am sure it does.

Well take the time and read the latest book put out by Kristin Schell called Turquoise Table. She has started a new trend or rather is bringing back what we did in the fifties when neighbors loved their neighbors and had a joyful neighborhood. She has started a so called movement that helps people enjoy each other and live happily with each other in their own neighborhood. Sounds good doesn’t it?  Read the book to gets tips on turning your neighborhood around and have a friendly environment in which you live .

In her unique way she used a turquoise table to get attention and to get people talking to each other, peoples’ lives began to change.  Happiness is just outside your front door.  So close, yet for some people, so far. Give this book a read to see how you can turn the table so to speak.

Changing your surroundings in simple ways as she suggests can be life changing.
