Jay-Z has finally opened up about his marital issues in the past with Beyonce in a brand new interview with the New York Times.

Jay-Z sat down with Dean Baquet to discuss his new album, how he felt when ‘Lemonade’ was released, politics, and his marriage in a 35 minute interview. In this interview, he does admit to being unfaithful to his wife in the past.

On Beyonce releasing Lemonade & a joint album:

“And then the music she was making at that time was further along. So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on. Um, we still have a lot of that music. And this is what it became. There was never a point where it was like, ‘I’m making this album.’ I was right there the entire time.”

He also admitted that hearing the lyrics caused a lot of pain, but he is proud of her art much like she is proud of his. At the end of the day, they both have respect for each other’s craft. He admits that both himself and Beyonce used their art as a powerful form of therapy, which is evident in both of their recent albums (Lemonade & 4:44).

He continued to say “the hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself”

He also touches upon his upbringing and raising his children.
