Following Demi Lovato’s shocking narcotics overdose, Lovatics from all over have been sharing their stories of struggle and how Demi has helped them during their dark times through a new inspiring campaign called, #HowDemiHasHelpedMe.

News broke on Monday that Demi was rushed to an L.A. hospital after she suffered from ‘an apparent overdose’. A source says, “Demi recently has wanted to be more social and out and about and has been privately partying more with friends.” Unfortunately for Demi, she cut ties with Mike Bayer, who is CEO of CAST Centres and who was also Demi’s sober companion. Demi also cut ties with her own management team, living her life with her own rules.
During a performance in NYC this past March, Demi told her fans, “The reason why I became so open about my story is because I know that there are people here tonight that need to ask for help and I want them to know that it’s OK. Mental health is something that we all need to talk about and we need to take the stigma away from it. So let’s raise the awareness. Let’s let everybody know it’s OK to have a mental illness and addiction problem.”

#HowDemiHasHelpedMe she taught me through her song “Warrior” that our most painful moments make us stronger and more self-conscious, which is great when I’m insecure about my appearance or my bad feelings. The struggles are still there though “I got thicker skin”

her story really changed my perspective on so many things. i was so ignorant about mental health, not only in general but also about my own, and her raw honesty opened my eyes. #HowDemiHasHelpedMe

She helped me ask for help. Her music has been there with me in waiting rooms before counselling, her music has been there for me in all my hospital stays. She has been there for me in my dark times and I am so grateful for her #HowDemiHasHelpedMe

#HowDemiHasHelpedMe I’ve learned that I am not perfect, I don’t have to change myself for others, and even when I’m in a deep hole I can always get out of it and shine bright.

Her music helped me realized that it was okay to be broken. Her being honest about her problems helped me see I could be something other then a mental illness. I love you Demi— Lexi Reid (@princessofsinss) July 25, 2018

If you didn’t follow Demi in the Unbroken era, you probably haven’t seen this. She is an angel who battles her demons while holding every else up. I will always support her. I hope she can be there for herself. #PrayersForDemi #HowDemiHasHelpedMe pic.twitter.com/wVJUyQmos0

#HowDemiHasHelpedMe when I was at the worst part of my life and I just wanted to give up completely, Demi’s speeches and music and book just kept me going and helped me be able to finally ask for help. I just recently passed 5 years clean and I credit that partially to her. ??

Demi has been very open and honest about her addiction struggles, eating disorder and her mental health. Demi once said, “You just have to take it one day at a time; some days are easier than others and some days you forget about drinking and using, but for me, I work on my physical health, which is important, but my mental health as well. I make sure I stay on my medications. I go to AA meetings. I do what I can physically in the gym. I make it a priority.”
