According to Popcrush, “The song came about after a particularly difficult day in New York City following her split from Pete Davidson.  Ariana said she was spending time with friends, enjoying a little champagne-furled retail therapy, when a friend suggested she turn her feelings into music.”

In response to a fan via Twitter, Ariana tweeted, “Well … ’twas a pretty rough day in NYC.  My friends took me to Tiffany’s.  We had too much champagne.  I bought us all rings.  It was very insane and funny and on the way back to the Stu, Njomza was like, ‘this gotta be a song’ so we wrote it that afternoon.”

The music video for ‘Thank U, Next’ is inspired by Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, Bring It On and 13 Going On 30 and the video is the BIGGEST in YouTube’s Premiere feature’s history!  The video also scored a Vevo record – it was viewed more than 50 million times in 24 hours.

Ariana also dished on her next single.  When a fan tweeted that she is patiently waiting for ‘Needy,’ Ariana tweeted, “I know.  But I think the song I’d like you to hear next is ‘Imagine.’  Not sure when but that’s what I’m thinking.”

Whatever Ariana has up her sleeve … we’re ready so bring it, Ari!
