When the 6 God asks for a gold and chrome-coloured CN Tower, that’s what you give the man!

After Drake’s GRAMMY win, Entertainment Tonight caught up with the 6 God backstage and as it turns out, John Tory was listening, “I wanna say that the mayor of Toronto needs to turn the CN Tower chrome and gold tomorrow,” followed by that good ol’ Canadian slang we love oh so much, “Are you stupid, are you dumb?”

In a tweet made the by CN Tower account, it reads, “Tonight we’re going gold to celebrate the outstanding artists whose work makes Canada shine so brightly on the world stage.  Congratulations to the nominees and winners at the 2019 Grammys!”

Drake won the GRAMMY for ‘Rap Song of the Year,’ making this his fourth win out of 42 nominations.  During his acceptance speech, Drake did NOT hold back! He took the time to call out the GRAMMY awards and what an award truly means to him:

“I wanna take this opportunity while I’m up here to just talk to all the kids that are watching this, that are aspiring to do music, to all my peers that make music from their heart, that do things pure and tell the truth.  I want to let you know that we play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport.  It’s up to a bunch of people that might not understand, you know, what a mixed-race kid from Canada has to say, or a fly Spanish girl from New York or anybody else.  The point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown.  Look, if there are people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain and the snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don’t need this right here. I promise you. You already won.”

Fans were quick to notice the GRAMMY production team cut Drake off (or so it seemed) and went straight to commercial.  Was it on purpose? A rep from Vanity Fair explains, “During Drake’s speech, there was a natural pause and at that moment the producers did assume that he was done and then cut to commercial.  However the producers did speak with Drake following his speech and did offer him to come back on stage to finish whatever his thoughts were. But Drake said he was happy with what he said and didn’t have anything to add.”
