COVID-19

Alberta reported 399 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday along with eight new deaths, bringing the province’s total death toll to 1,874. There are currently 4,484 active cases, with 280 Albertans with COVID-19 in hospital and 56 of them in ICU beds.

Three Albertans under the age of 50 are among the deaths reported yesterday including an Edmonton Zone woman in her 30s. That’s the second fatality of an Edmonton-area woman in that age range reported in the past five days.

Hundreds of seniors lined up outside of a north Edmonton COVID-19 vaccination site on Thursday. Many had to wait up to two hours past their booked appointment time. The lineup outside of the Skyview temporary AHS location on 137 Avenue and 135 Street was longer than a football field at around 4 p.m.

Tiger King 2

Possibly 2020’s biggest Netflix event, Tiger King, might be getting a second season. Tiger King 2 is probably  in the works but there’s is a good chance the entire thing could fall through. Joe Exotic is still only two years into his 22 year prison sentence but he just released a statement saying he has big news about his future that he will be revealing on March 1.

One of the biggest stars from the first season will apparently not be featured in this next chapter. Carole Baskin, Joe Exotic’s arch enemy, revealed she won’t come back. Baskin was quite vocal about how she wasn’t happy with the way she was portrayed in the first season.

Edmonton Oilers

Last night, the Edmonton Oilers defeated and shut out the Vancouver Canucks with the score of 3 – 0. Captain Connor McDavid got a goal and an assist which brings his season points total to 40. Oilers’ goalie Mike Smith made a perfect 32 saves and gained his sixth win of the season.

This last win brings the Oilers winning streak to 5 games in a row and they’ve also won 12 of their last 14 games. They’re hoping to keep up their momentum when they play against the current top team in the league, the Toronto Maple Leafs, tomorrow at 5 p.m.

After the 5 game streak, Robbie is once again allowed to watch the Edmonton Oilers. But if we lose… We all know who’s fault it is!
