The Weeknd has made major Canadian history on Spotify! Blinding Lights, which is the lead single off of his After Hour’s album, is now the ‘first song by a Canadian artist to pass two billion plays on Spotify.’
.@theweeknd's "Blinding Lights" has now surpassed 2 billion streams on Spotify. It’s the fastest song in history to reach this milestone.

Only three other songs have more Spotify streams than Blinding Lights:
Ed Sheeran / Shape of You (2.72 billion)
Post Malone Feat. 21 Savage / Rockstar (2.12 billion)
Tones and I / Dance Monkey (2.1 billion)
Blinding Lights isn’t the only song that’s made major moves on Spotify:
Starboy Feat. Daft Punk (1.52 billion)
The Hills (1.6 billion)
Can’t Feel My Face (1.11 billion)
And if that wasn’t enough – The Weeknd’s Save Your Tears has surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify. He also joins Drake, Ed Sheeran, and Post Malone on the list for artists to have at least 50 songs to reach 100 million streams each on Spotify.
