20-year-old Moroccan-Canadian singer and songwriter Fauzia is this month’s ‘One to Watch’ artist.

Faouzia was born in Casablanca Morocco, and moved with her family to Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Manitoba at the age of two.  She and her family then settled in Carman, Manitoba.  Faouzia speaks fluent English, French, and Arabic.

 

At the age of fifteen, Fauzia began to post songs and covers on her YouTube channel, which then led to a contract with Paradigm Talent Agency, and released her first independent single.  Fauzia would later go on to win Song of the Year, the Audience Award, and Grand Prix at the 2015 La Chicane Éléctrique

In 2016, she came in second place at the Canada’s Walk of Fame Emerging Artist Mentorship Program and in the following year, Faouzia was the recipient of the Grand Prize at the Nashville Unsigned Only music competition.

 

Also in 2017, she along with Manitoban artist Matt Epp collaborated together on a song titled ‘The Sound,’ and won the International Songwriting Competition, which is the largest songwriting competition in the world.  Faouzia and Matt were the first Canadians in the competition’s 16-year history to win the top prize.

In 2018, Faouzia was asked to be featured on a David Guetta song titled ‘Battle,’ which is featured on the album, 7.

 

 

 

In April of 2020, Kelly Clarkson invited Faouzia to do an Arabic cover of her song, ‘I Dare You,’ and a month later, was featured in Galantis’ ‘I Fly,’ a song featured for the SCOOB soundtrack.

 

 

 

In August of that same year, Faouzia released a project titled Stripped.  It features 6 tracks – 5 are acoustic versions of previously released songs.  A few months later, her song ‘Minefields’ featuring John Legend was released, and was dubbed as a ‘powerful ballad’ by Rolling Stone.  The song racked up over 100 million global streams and it gave Faouzia her first Top 10 entry on the US iTunes charts.

 

 

 

And in 2021, she released two new singles, “don’t tell me i’m pretty” and “Hero”.

 

 

 

Faozia also has:

  • Over 1.5 million YouTube subscribers.
  • Over 1.9 million Instagram followers.
  • More than 2.5 million TikTok followers worldwide.

 

Faouzia is currently working on her long-awaited debut album.
