As a teenager, she was in the Broadway musical 13 and then landed the role of Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon series Victorious.  It wasn’t long after that Ariana Grande captured the hearts of millions around the world, and become the popstar she is today however, it looks as though her career roots go even deeper than Broadway as a teen.

While on The Tonight Show (Nov. 4), Jimmy Fallon surprised Ariana with a video from her first-ever performance.  Ariana ‘s mother Joan gave Jimmy a home video of 8-year old Ariana singing the national anthem at a Florida Panthers game, “Oh my gosh, are we going here,” she asked.

Even before this moment, Ariana told Jimmy at the age of four, she called up Universal Studios, and expressed her interest in auditioning for Nickelodeon’s All That or The Amanda Show.  Although neither worked out, she did eventually become one of Nickelodeon’s biggest stars.

Ariana also talked about the ’emotional bond’ she’s formed with her team on The Voice, and she feels like the stage mom for her Voice contestants.  Watch below.
