She did it again! Zendaya, 26-years old, made history last night (Sept. 12) at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning the trophy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series.

Zendaya won in the same category back in 2020 for her portrayal of Rue Bennett in HBO’s Euphoria.  Zendaya’s current win also made her the first Black woman to win twice in that category.

“Thank you Sam Levinson for believing in me and even in moments when I didn’t believe in myself.  My greatest wish for ‘Euphoria’ was that it could help heal people and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me.  I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are Rue, I want you to know that I’m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me and I carry them with her,” Zendaya said in her acceptance speech.
Can we also focus on the shade Kenan Thompson threw towards Leonardo DiCaprio about dating younger women.
Lizzo also had an amazing night, walking away with the trophy for outstanding competition series for Amazon’s ‘Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrrls.’  “When I was a little girl, all I wanted to see was me in the media — someone fat like me, Black like me, beautiful like me.  If I could go back and tell little Lizzo something, I’d be like, ‘You’re going to see that person, but b***h, it’s going to have to be you.’  This is for the big grrrls!” an emotional Lizzo said while accepting her trophy.  Lizzo is now halfway to an EGOT.
