Drew Behm started doing stand-up comedy over 10 years ago and now, he has a shot at a cool $25,000 if he takes home the title of “SiriusXM’s Top Comic” later this month.

The Edmonton based comic moved to Toronto 4 years ago to pursue stand-up comedy as a full-time profession!

Obviously, it paid off! He is one of 10 people hoping to win the biggest comedy competition in Canada. It didn’t come easily though, Drew says that he has applied to this competition for 10 years!

This is how the competition works:  First, you have to submit a 5-minute tape.  If your tape is selected, you’re off to the live auditions and if you win, you will then advance to the online voting stage.  As Drew explains, “You have to bug your friends and family to vote for you.”  Drew had no expectations but when he was told he was on his way to finals, he remembers it being a ‘crazy feeling.’

The top ten comedians will do a live show in Toronto at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Sept. 26th.  Only one will take home the prize money and be crowned ‘Canada’s Top Comic.’  And the best news of all – the winner will be guaranteed spots at some upcoming, high-profile shows.

When I asked Drew how he was preparing for the finals and if he was nervous, the dude sounded cool as a cucumber! Saying that it’s out of his control and that “comedy is so subjective”.

Me: Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Drew: In a previous interview, I was kind of miss quoted and my mom wasn’t happy about what was said about where I lived as a kid. I never sold drugs.

GOOD LUCK, DREW! We are rooting for you!
