The Olympics planned to take place in Rio, may be postponed due to the Zika virus.

The U.S. Olympic Committee has told athletes that if the Games do happen in Brazil this August, they should strongly consider skipping if they’re worried about contracting the Zika virus.

So far there are no vaccines, preventative drugs, or treatments for the illness once it’s contracted.

Health officials say the Zika virus is still quite mysterious, though more information is being discovered about it every day.

 

This kind of news is probably very hard for athletes to deal with. Those who have never competed before  wont want to miss the games in Rio, because it could be their only chance at glory.

So far, the Olympics are still set to happen in August, not much word has been heard from the Olympic officials on the matter of the Zika virus.
