GOOD NEWS! The Easter Bunny has been added to the list of essential workers.

The City’s state of local emergency doesn’t apply to magic bunnies so, he can freely hop from house to house this Easter long weekend while practicing safe social distancing protocols.

He has to keep clear of all humans and he will also wash his feet vigorously in between each delivery.

Mayor Don Iveson has a direct line to the Easter Bunny and confirmed the news at a news conference on Thursday.

“The bunny wants to ensure all of you that he and his team will do their very best to deliver treats but that they might not be able to make it to every home this year. As as you can imagine, they’re very busy with their own families at this time of year as well.”

The City of Edmonton and the Easter Bunny want to ensure the health and safety of everyone this Easter long weekend. Egg hunts are still allowed but they should be done within the safety of the home.

Mayor Don Iveson also confirmed that the Tooth Fairy is an essential service. However, even though teeth may be collected, the banks are closed so, the Tooth Fairy is having a hard time finding the proper coins for payment. Children are asked to be extra patient.

Health officials are urging Albertans to celebrate Easter Weekend at home. Avoiding all travel and attending religious ceremonies from the safety of their home.
