COVID-19

Alberta reported 301 new COVID-19 cases along with three deaths yesterday. This brings the province’s total death toll to 1,886. The total case numbers rose to 4,584 because there were more new cases than the 260 recovered patients.

Today’s upcoming COVID-19 update could move the province into stage 2 which eases restrictions on retail businesses, indoor gyms and other businesses. Business owner’s might find out that they can open as early as today. One of the requirements before Alberta moves to stage 2 is to have less than 450 patients in hospital with COVID-19 and there are currently 250 with 46 in the ICU.

Golden Globes

The 2021 Golden Globe Awards hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler aired last night. Schitt’s Creek won the Golden Globe for Best TV Comedy Series. One of the show’s top stars, Catherine O’Hara, won the award for best actress in a Comedy Series.

Pokémon

This year marks 25 years since the incredibly popular Pokémon trading card game was created. Saturday marked this year’s Pokémon Day, which revealed tons of new Pokémon content coming in the next couple of years.

This is your reminder to check your old Pokémon cards! A man from Edmonton named Seth who held on to his collection since he was a kid, just sold a rare first-edition “Charizard” Pokémon card. Seth’s card wasn’t even in mint condition and if it was it would have been worth around $400,000.
