City of Edmonton and Edmonton Fire Dept. are warning residents of Edmonton to stay clear of the river during the high water levels!

Due to all the rain and over flow the river level will be rising up to 4 meters.

“The river conditions are going to get quite dangerous in the next 12 hours,” said Randy Shakura, acting platoon chief with the fire department, to the CBC.

“One of the problems that we encounter with rising water levels is a dramatic increase with the flow rate of the river. This is going to change what is normally a relatively safe river into something extremely dangerous.”

So pretty much, be safe and be smart! Don’t go boating or floating any time soon.

If you do fall in the water, or see someone fall, it’s advised to call 911 and float on your back with your feet up if you are in the water.
