VOGUE recently reported on a college class that focuses on Lemonade.

Here are the key points:

Beyoncé, one of the great thinkers of our time, is taking her rightful place among academia’s best and brightest at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where her instant-classic visual album Lemonade has inspired an entire college course.

-A class in the English department, will meet three times per week this semester, diving into Lemonade by track—beginning with “Formation” and ending in December with “All Night”—and exploring the “theoretical, historical, and literary frameworks of black feminism.”

-Listening to Lemonade on a loop and dissecting its cultural and historical significance—can now earn you college credits. UTSA, please say you allow journalists to Skype-audit the class. But Professor Brooks also warns students that Lemonade 101 won’t be a breeze by any means. She promises in course materials that she’ll push students to work harder “than ever before,” and won’t “sugarcoat” the many provocative themes raised by Lemonade.
