Good news is, no one was hurt, but a group of skiers and snowboarders at Rabbit Hill needed to be rescued Friday afternoon when the chairlift broke down and came to a complete stop.

Normally in an instance like this, there is a back up motor that kicks in but unfortunately that back up motor wasn’t working either. Rescue crews were quick to respond to the situation, helping those stuck up in air get off the chairlift safely. They were using cables and harnesses to bring them down to safety.

The general manager of Rabbit Hill Snow Resort Jim Sutherland says it was an electrical problem, and that this sort of thing does not happen very often. He has been working at the ski hill for the past 35 years and the chairlift has only acted up five times before. He was very apologetic to skiers and snowboarders and everyone that was stranded on the chairlift was given a lift ticket to come back and enjoy another day of skiing or snowboarding on the house.
