Magic of Thinking Big

In 1978 I attended a business seminar my friend was having. I had no idea what I was going to see or hear.  I liked my friend and I respected him so I just attended no questions asked. I trusted him. At the end of the meeting I was handed a book that had nothing to do with the business presentation, other than my friend told me I should read it.  I was not much of a reader, but that book changed my life forever and I have been an avid reader of not only motivational books but books of all kind for the last 35 years. I am forever grateful for him to simply putting the book in my hand and saying I should read it.

The book itself was a mainly about thinking outside the box, expanding your mind and expanding your thinking in a way that could make changes happen in your life.  Too many times people would tell you you can’t do things because you are too small, too fat, too dumb, too poor etc. The Magic of Thinking Big dispelled all the myths of why great things can be done by ordinary people   if you just think bigger.  Do not limit yourself. Do not make excuses. Do not procrastinate. Do not have negative thoughts.  Think Big!!!

I went on and became an entrepreneur with my friend. A major part of our business was to motivate people to be better people and better business. We did that through positive thinking by reading what we called positive thinking books like the Magic of Thinking Big  which was like our bible in the business world. It taught you, motivated you to do well and helped you be a better person in all aspects of your life, at work, home and in the community.

I was a school teacher at the time and after reading the Magic of Thinking Big, I distributed it to my students to read as a reading assignment. They got motivated to do well in school and sports and in their life.   I discovered that I had many talents that could contribute to helping others as well as myself outside of teaching as they soon discovered how they can change their life for the better.  So in the meantime I became a better teacher because of what I was learning in the books I read and I enjoyed doing what I was doing. My students enjoyed the class and were better students.

However after a few years of being in business and constantly reading motivational books and being around positive people my goals got bigger as the book said they could be.

Since my dreams and goals did get bigger I decided to leave teaching on a full time basis and chase after some of my dreams.  With the support of my business associates was a part time teacher and part time businessman.  The good thing about this I incorporated everything I was learning in raising my sons and then my daughter who by the way have grown up to be outstanding enthusiastic, sincere, genuine individuals as they caught the fire and the power of reading good books and putting words into action into their lives and their careers.  That to me is most satisfying.
