A new report has been released saying that across Canada 748 people have lost a combined 17 million due to catfishing in 2016.

Edmonton alone, city police say that in two high-profile cases this past year huge sums of money were lost. One $50,000, the second more than $90,000 in money lost in catfishing schemes.

Let this be a cold reminder to make sure you can verify who you are speaking to online, are who they say they are.
