Yesterday, about 100 cabbies made a scene at city hall to express their opposition to a proposed bylaw to regulate ride-sharing companies like Uber. The proposal would allow companies like Uber to operate legally if drivers undergo mandatory criminal record checks, get their vehicles checked annually, have proper insurance, and pay a fee. CTV Edmonton had some great footage of the disruption that lead to the mayor and councilors leaving the room.
